The Path

Map Info

Get a drink, a fan, some relaxing music, some chocolate and a blanket. Hopefully something you have will keep you from screaming your head off on this parkour map.

The Path is a recreation of the popular game "Getting Over It - With Bennet Foddy" in minecraft, but sadly you won't play as a man in a cauldron.

The map contains the same areas from the actual game, with the very end of the map being atop the tower at the top of the hill. There are no checkpoints, and typing any command in minecraft chat will count as you cheating.

Additionally, there are three diamonds scattered across the map for those who are adventurers, and there are many shortcuts you can take to get places faster than you would usually expect.

My best speedrun for this map is around 11 minutes and 30 seconds, I would love to see people try to beat my record.

Rules are explained in the game, after you start the map so. . . Good luck.

Clayton I was going to mention how inconsistent the recreation was (the very beginning has a larger amount of space dedicated to it than the rest of the map, and some of the later sections are completely skipped), but then I made it to the end and realized I was at the build limit. You literally didn't have room to add any more. You did the best anyone possibly could with this, and for that I commend you. Simple but good map.

(and yes, I did make it to the end without cheating)

Billybae10K Hey there,

As someone who personally hasn't played Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, all I knew going into this map was that it would be difficult and unforgiving. And I was right, for sure. The map's difficulty is clearly labelled and I've noticed many people complaining about the difficulty. But I think if this map had checkpoints, it wouldn't be an accurate re-creation of the Getting Over It formula that I've seen. It is meant to be so hard that it seems unfair, that's the whole point. It's there to make you rage, and you brought that feeling over brilliantly.

Now fair disclaimer, I got a decent ways into the map before admittedly using creative mode, as I was recording the map on limited time and wanted to experience all the jumps it had to offer, but I still found the map extremely enjoyable regardless. This is probably the first map in a long time that focuses on a purely vertical level. You are going up and the 3 by 3 movement space meant that you needed to compact all these different jumps into this small space. It's impressive and feels like I'm scaling a map where every jump was thought about and everything was placed with a purpose.

It scares me just how good players are at parkour nowadays, as parkour used to be an aspect of Minecraft where difficult jumps were written off as impossible and nobody really knew how to deal with them, so seeing maps like these that or designed to scratch that intense itch and give the player some serious challenge, it's great. Thanks for a fun map!

If you're interested in seeing how I fared, I did record my own video of the map, but I just wanted to come by the comments here and say my peace -

bluecreeper111 Played through it. Great recreation and I had the feeling I had when I played the actual game (not rage, but more of a quirky unfair game feeling). I do, however, feel that having an only 3-block wide linear course was not the right direction for a recreation of Bennett's game in Minecraft. Perhaps adding a wider "path" as the amount of space in the map felt very restricting. Overall, decent map. Could use some improvements. But considering my harsh criticism of a lot of maps, consider that a good rating from me ;). Would probably give a 7/10, 8/10 if it had Bennett's annoying quotes playing while you fell :P.

Sparkour Quoting A Person:
Did you include the snake?

YES! The snake's concept was included, however I couldn't have made anything to visibly represent the snake as it would obstruct the view of the player from below. If the case just mentioned were to come through, a player would know the risk of "THE SNAKE" where-as in "Getting Over It - With Bennett Foddy" players are unaware of that risk. They simply know it's bad. In my recreation of the game, I use pressure plates. The same effect takes place, and players feel the same amount of suffering.

Flame Oof hi spark.seems neato

ontop of that a youtuber played it. LogDotZip i think.

FunnyLucky For some reason everytime I did a major fail I didn't really rage, even after failing on "the snake" (pressure plates) I was still pushing until I beat it. This game, like Getting Over It - is awesome! 10/10 would play again, although the game says not to.

Steve Blockhead Well, I tried... Got pretty far, got stuck, and then rage quited because I took a leap of faith to the a Hidden Reward. Anyways, good map. Definitely had a lot of "Hmmmmmm" moments.

TheWormyGamer I played it!

Ponyah Well made map! Really feels like Getting Over it, just could be a bit more punishing at some points ;)
Some kind of difficulty change would be cool too, did it in 20mins first try (will try to do it faster) but some jumps could be more difficult.
But however: Great gameplay, good idea!

Flavio Hello! beautiful map for the construction and for the level of challenge of the parkour. I liked it a lot and I managed to finish it without cheating! But in 2 points of the map there are blocks that allow you to avoid some leaps. They are in the "lol splot" and the other is at the top where there is levitation. In the "lol splot" there is an oak log with a fence and a cobblestone wall on it and jumping on the other fence allow you to jump on the cobblestone wall and avoid some leaps. At the top you can press the levitation button from above the snow avoidin the iron pressure plates. These two "skip" were planned or are they a mistake in the construction? Despite everything it was a fantastic map and i hope you'll do other!

Archee Extremely impressed with this parkour, not too difficult at times where the punishment is large, managed to complete it in about 20 mins with 1 major fall on the barrier jump before the radio tower(?) at the end. love the aesthetics of the map all along the way. went back to check what the pressure plates near the end did though and i think tping back to the very start is a bit too harsh for failing a simple 4 block jump. props to you :applaud:.

2018-01-22 04:46

minedog108 to the map creator: no... just no. way too hard. yes I get its based on a very hard game but for a parkour map this is just way to hard. at least put in some checkpoints. as a fellow map creator i have to say that this is way harder then anything that I have created, and I have made some pretty hard maps. Besides the fact that is was way too hard it was a great map though. I could tell you put a lot of effort in to it. It would be a great map if you put maybe 5 checkpoints.

2018-01-22 03:57

IamFrost Pretty good map! I must admit though that the only time I cheated was on the very first jump that said "if you can't do this, leave". But there are more of that same jump later in the game that I got the hang of so thanks for a great map!
