Get a drink, a fan, some relaxing music, some chocolate and a blanket. Hopefully something you have will keep you from screaming your head off on this parkour map.
The Path is a recreation of the popular game "Getting Over It - With Bennet Foddy" in minecraft, but sadly you won't play as a man in a cauldron.
The map contains the same areas from the actual game, with the very end of the map being atop the tower at the top of the hill. There are no checkpoints, and typing any command in minecraft chat will count as you cheating.
Additionally, there are three diamonds scattered across the map for those who are adventurers, and there are many shortcuts you can take to get places faster than you would usually expect.
My best speedrun for this map is around 11 minutes and 30 seconds, I would love to see people try to beat my record.
Rules are explained in the game, after you start the map so. . . Good luck.

QuoteAs someone who personally hasn't played Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, all I knew going into this map was that it would be difficult and unforgiving. And I was right, for sure. The map's difficulty is clearly labelled and I've noticed many people complaining about the difficulty. But I think if this map had checkpoints, it wouldn't be an accurate re-creation of the Getting Over It formula that I've seen. It is meant to be so hard that it seems unfair, that's the whole point. It's there to make you rage, and you brought that feeling over brilliantly.
Now fair disclaimer, I got a decent ways into the map before admittedly using creative mode, as I was recording the map on limited time and wanted to experience all the jumps it had to offer, but I still found the map extremely enjoyable regardless. This is probably the first map in a long time that focuses on a purely vertical level. You are going up and the 3 by 3 movement space meant that you needed to compact all these different jumps into this small space. It's impressive and feels like I'm scaling a map where every jump was thought about and everything was placed with a purpose.
It scares me just how good players are at parkour nowadays, as parkour used to be an aspect of Minecraft where difficult jumps were written off as impossible and nobody really knew how to deal with them, so seeing maps like these that or designed to scratch that intense itch and give the player some serious challenge, it's great. Thanks for a fun map!
If you're interested in seeing how I fared, I did record my own video of the map, but I just wanted to come by the comments here and say my peace - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To6rbAg9Gr0

QuoteYES! The snake's concept was included, however I couldn't have made anything to visibly represent the snake as it would obstruct the view of the player from below. If the case just mentioned were to come through, a player would know the risk of "THE SNAKE" where-as in "Getting Over It - With Bennett Foddy" players are unaware of that risk. They simply know it's bad. In my recreation of the game, I use pressure plates. The same effect takes place, and players feel the same amount of suffering.

QuoteSome kind of difficulty change would be cool too, did it in 20mins first try (will try to do it faster) but some jumps could be more difficult.
But however: Great gameplay, good idea!
