Celebrating almost a year of being a part of the Minecraft Maps community, TheMapReviewer team have come together to finally make their own adventure map! This map was created a couple of years ago, back in the days of 1.8.8, but it is compatible with 1.9 and 1.10 as well. Therefore, we were not as experienced with Minecraft as we are today, but it is still a good map.
Your name is Arthur Smith, a middle-class elementary school teacher from Lower Harrison. One morning, you wake up. But you are not in your bed! You are in a stark-white laboratory. Where am I? you wonder. You look around. You walk down the hall ...
- Play at Render Distance 10 or lower.
- Play on Normal difficulty.
- Don't cheat unless you get stuck.
- Play in Survival mode. Not Adventure, not Creative.

Thank you, icatface. I appreciate the feedback! I tried to make it as vague as possible while it was still possible to know what was going on. And yes, while you could jump out of the map, that is obviously not what you should do. I do hope that Evangeline II will get some higher ratings! :P

QuoteDon't take this as a negative comment. There are many holes in this map, such as having a potion of jumping to get out of the map and parkour that's way too easy, since there are shortcuts. I don't understand the story, as I have absolutely no idea how a teacher, a laboratory, parkour and a small village are connected together. Even though its made in 1.8.8, I believe that it should be given better attention in the details. You should add in some signs at the first part of the map so people can understand the rules and story of the game.
Overall, I understand that you are not quite experienced, but since this is your first adventure map, I am okay with the map so far.
I hope the second map to this series, Evangeline II will work on the errors made in the first one.

QuoteNo. It is for singleplayer only.
In Evangeline II, it will be necessary to have 2 players.

QuoteIf you have a cobblestone, a furnace, and a piece of coal, you're probably going to have to smelt it. I put you in survival mode for honor and assuming you won't cheat. It's fine; Act II will be better, but if you had to break diamond blocks you probably would get an iron or diamond pick.

QuoteOnce you finish the big mob room/battle, you have to find the iron door. It gives you the option to go left or right, through two passageways. Going left kills you; going right moves you on to the next trial. Sometimes mobs do spawn on the pressure plate, but they shouldn't. Separating the mob room and the death room is barriers, and separating the pressure plate from the hallway is iron blocks.

QuoteIf it took you that short of a time, you must have cheated. Remember, you're not allowed to break blocks, and realized after I published that barriers are visible in Survival. heh.

QuoteHi GolemGirl,
I really appreciate the feedback. I don't particularly like command block text either, but this map was made back in 1.8 where I was still new to them. I use them in the lab, because it's supposed to be an intercom. For the rest of the map, It is you thinking and I didn't know how to rename command blocks and whatnot back then. I agree that there isn't much story, but it is supposed to be vague and more will be revealed in future installments. After that big fight thing in the iron block cave, there really shouldn't be any reason for you to die, other than the lava parkour but it's very easy. The end is not finished and the second map will begin with that granite door. Also when I made the third trial, I had forgotten that you didn't need a crafting table to make a pressure plate and leaving one wall blank didn't make much sense to me.
Anyway, sorry if it was a bit amateur and had a lame ending, but all will be revealed.

QuoteGreat video!! In the vid, you wondered about a backstory, and Sarah and stuff, plus the ramblings of the main character. All of this will be revealed ...

QuoteNo it isn't. It's a single player map.
Quoting KyanPVP:
Yes, as I mentioned this is the shortest in the series; between 15 and 45 minutes dependent on your skill level.
