Dungeons of Denalia is a dungeon crawling adventure map where the player assumes the role of an adventurer in a fantasy medieval world. The game starts at the uppermost level of an unmapped dungeon with monsters and treasures. The goal is to fight one's way to the bottom level, retrieve the Amulet of Life, then ascend to the surface. Until the Amulet is retrieved, the player cannot return to earlier levels. Monsters in the levels become progressively more difficult to defeat.

  • Procedurally generated dungeon levels.
  • Random loot.
  • Custom mobs.
  • Secret rooms.

  • Replayable.

Additional Info

  • Play on easy, normal or hard.
  • Video settings: Render distance = 4 chunks.
  • Resource pack included in the map, don't use your own.
  • The Amulet of Life spawns at level 10 or deeper.

+2 melwei It's a really nice map, but this happened to me:
I died (in Lvl 4, I think) and it just said "Your home bed is missing or obstructed", and resetted me completely, back to Level 1 with the Start Loot...
It is kind of frustrating to respawn in the total beginning after every death...

-1 MMS21 I have the Amulet of Life, what do i do now? Is it meant to stop damage or something because its not doing anything!

+5 Unknown0ne This map is amazing! The fact that it is actually procedurally randomly generated is amazing. Sure it takes a minute to load, but it certainly is worth it. I'm not quite sure what the others are saying about it being too hard, as level 1 wasn't too bad. However, there is a mild annoyance when enemies spawn behind you.

The texture pack is amazing, and while the map is somewhat repetitive, it's due to the fact it is randomly generated

-3 Shou The map is great and all, but when I try to enter a certain area, the game crashes. Is there a solution to this?

Is it possible for me to download just the texture pack somewhere? I really like it and cant seem to find JUST the texture pack in the files.

It should be in the world folder called "resources.zip"

-4 the cookie thief i will admit that i am not the best fighter but the start is so hard dew to the fact that some dungeons have such crap layout and the endless swarm of enemy's. aside the difficultly the game is great and never gets boring as you(the map creator) have made the dungeons new every time i rate 7/10 if the hardness was lowered it would be 9/10

-5 neonskuller I went into the game, got into the dungeon, and then I found a chest and when I opened the chest I found... NOTHING. I then left the game and got back in and that was fixed, but then after 2 hours of trying to find the door that needs a key that I found immediately I gave up. 1/10 Would not recommend.

An invincible witch killed me and my brother. We spent 10 minutes hacking away at it with a diamond axe and an iron axe with no effect.

0/10

This must be a Minecraft bug because I didn't add any invincible mob on the map. Try to exit the map and re-enter it maybe this way the issue gets fixed, if not, report the bug to mojang.

I can't enter the dungeon... It's been 10 minutes already...

When you click the button if it says "Wait...", wait for 30 seconds and click it again, do it 3 or 4 times and you will finally enter the dungeon. It shouldn't be longer of 45 seconds, depends on your computer. But you can find videos on youtube of people playing the map and it usually takes 45 seconds-1 minute. But remember to click the button again.

My fiance opened the map for multiplayer so I can play on it with him but I keep crashing..-_-

Be sure to play it on 1.9.2 and if you play on multiplayer enable command blocks. It works. You can find some videos on youtube of people playing on multiplayer, it works perfect. Probably there is something wrong with your server, minecraft version, or pc.

Is this a multiplayer map? How many players can play simultaneously?

Yes it is multiplayer, there is no limit of players but maybe the recommended would be a max of 4 players.

Love the map, just seems like I am a little unlucky so far because I get more armor than food :P still, it is randomly generated so 10/10

Thanks you! I'm glad you like it!!

Not only can i not enter the dungeon, the resource pack makes text look like complete jibberish

Each level is generated randomly and it takes a while, around 45 seconds more or less.

Really nice map. Graphics and mechanics are all really great. Enjoyed the gameplay as well. Only problem I have is the fact that if you die on any level without sleeping in a bed on that level, even if you are almost to the level where the amulet spawns, you have to restart from the beginning which is a pain.

At the start of every level you have a health boost that last for 30 seconds you can use it to run and find a bed.

what do i do with the emeralds

It's an score system, you can compete with your friends to see who can get more!

-2 Ermin Craft Quoting dave1000:

same, wtf is the point of emeralds? also, why do you have the /gamemode disabled as well? also, i dont like the the invisible/invincible skeleton that i cant kill but it can kill me which is bs. i also died on level 7 and it told me my bed was obstructed and or missing and it took me back to lvl 1. when you die, you have to start all over again?

Emeralds are score, and yes if you die before finding a bed on a level you start from level 1 like on the old rogue game in which this map is based. About the invisible/ininc ible skeleton I didn't add any of that to the map, maybe it's a glitch Idk.

I would say, not really. Only because of the tiny amount of items you'd get from loot chests. Unless you want a really difficult challenge ;)

If you explore the whole dungeon before going to the next level you can get a lot of items, I would say that it is Multiplayer firendly because besides, more people but same amount of mobs is an important advantage.

This is one impressive map! The resource pack is very clever, love those floor spikes. I actually felt like there was a nice balance with the loot chests, between really useful stuff and pretty much useless junk, just like you'll find in any RPG. My one request would be a little higher chance of generating coal, or maybe one of the furnace rooms could come with fuel. There's a LOT of raw meat but not a lot of coal to cook it with! (I know, "suck it up and eat it raw," but come on...)

I also ran into the bed issue, which is totally logical given the nature of the map. I got around it by manually making a copy of my save file after generating each new level, so that if I died before finding a bed, I could reload my save from the start of the level and not have to go back to the beginning. Maybe that's considered cheating, but I think it's a fair way to get around a game mechanic you can't fix. I did do one last little cheat and stuck an ender chest in the in-between stairwell, for all my emeralds. I am a compulsive item hoarder (I held onto all the empty bottles just in case, and for a while the bowls too), and I didn't want to throw away my bragging rights!

Once I had retrieved the amulet, I popped into creative mode for a look at your command blocks and holy cow! That must have taken you forever. Hats off to you. A really clever concept executed very well! It was a nice challenge, a little easier on me once I had acquired a diamond axe with Smite and Mending. But I STILL died a lot! It was fun, though, rather than frustrating. A fine line to walk!

I'm glad you liked it. And thanks for the feedback, you gave me a lot of useful ideas, I will apply them to my next map :)
