What is it?

This is a project ForumJelly has been working on for quite some time, which is an adventure map made for 1.12 that will allow up to 4 players and include several things such as side quests, a conflicting story, bosses, custom trades, custom mobs to battle, areas and builds built by us, custom traders, Easter eggs, and more!

Story

There was once two separate realities, The Light World and Dark World. They peacefully co-existed without contact, until one day the Light Kingdom was assaulted by dwellers of the Dark World. The Light Kingdom was crippled and both worlds are now aberrations. One ruined, the other twisted. Whoever was behind the operations was a dark power which dwelled in the other world, seeking the energy of the light. They found a rift between worlds and breached the barrier that separated them...

The Player’s Role

You are a soldier of the Royal Guard, whom at the start of the adventure, you report to the King and he tells you about a weapon which grants the ability to shatter the portal between the two worlds. While he is speaking, the attack happens. You survive, but the King vanishes... You, as the Hero, will traverse the Light and Dark worlds to find out who is behind all this and restore order.Travel worlds, find secrets, complete quests, uncover Easter eggs, trade with custom traders, slay bosses/mobs, and more...

Important Additional Info/Settings

All of these are required, make sure you follow these settings!

Please make the parkour easier! I'm stuck in the caverns! I have died 16 times so far, and all 16 were in the caverns! Is there a way to turn the annoying thing that keeps you in adventure mode off? If so, please tell me! I'm not great at parkour, so maybe it's that, but I'm having problems. Also, for those who want to turn the difficulty to easy, use the command /difficulty easy. Plz help!

Sorry for the trouble, this was our first map so we tried our best!

Quoting ajw2404:
You should make a texture pack for this map so the items look like what the name says

Our next map will have one ;)

Quoting xPandachu:
There are a bunch of problems with this map. There really is. I wasted two hours on this map, and for what? Just to have to give up during the fight of the final, final boss (the wither.) I don't usually give reviews, but this map was fairly terrible.

First off, you can't go in creative mode. I understand why there would be reason for this, but it doesn't have a reason in THIS map. If someone lost the sword (like me) how would they continue the map? Answer: They can't. I had to give myself a regular diamond sword and fight with that. (I lost the sword while in the library boss fight when I was switching out the sword with another item in my inventory, and then had to use my stone pickaxe for the rest of the three waves which were the hardest.) People don't always use creative mode to cheat, but even if they do - it's their choice.

Second, there are way too many items to fit in our inventory. No, I'm not one of those people who hoards useless things. The potions were fairly useful during the fights, even more so the relics. It would be great if there were ender chests at the checkpoints or something, but even with the ender chests there isn't really enough space (I used them so I know.)

Third, are you kidding me? There were WAY too many Guardians and Guardian spawners in the swamp. Don't use "you're probably just bad at PvE" as an excuse. There's no way to kill all the Guardians and eliminate the spawners unless you spend 35 minutes or more on that one spot (the other mobs included, also.)

Fourth, the assassin was way too geared up compared to the player. It was VERY fast and attacked quickly.

Fifth, the final boss. It literally didn't fit into the storyline at all. The boss said it was doing what it was because the player's species kill the boss's just for the kingdoms and stuff, and it wanted revenge. But what does that have to do with the story? There was no mention or information whatsoever about his species (or the kingdoms, for that matter, other than in, like, the descriptions.) And this is a new character that was never even barely hinted at throughout the map. Also, for when the player gets to the wither part - seriously? I kept dying over and over again (over twenty times) and the wither just kept healing. No, I did not focus on the henchmen. I tried everything - bow-spamming (which only worked for the first two) and spam-clicking. But nope, nothing worked. The potions barely had any effect - they just kept me alive for a second longer. I checked my armor - it was full diamond enchanted with the best enchantments possible. It may have been the weapon I was using but really?

Still, this was an okay map. I liked the settings and unique features of the map. Trading was fun and I enjoyed the side quests! And the "beer" was great LOL! [Oh and two more things - too many spawners and too long a time to kill the mobs (although these ones doesn't bug me as much as the other things I elaborated on.)] I hope you guys make more maps but please try to be considerate of ALL players and circumstances that may occur. Thank you!

We fixed most of these problems as we released a version 1.1
Next time we will try to consider difficulty so that it leans towards all players, however our current W.I.P, that will be hard to do, as we are creating a fairly challenging map. We will leave a warning at the start to state that the map was fairly difficult. Also throughout the map we did give clues about the final boss. Perhaps they were too subtle so we will try to work on that next time. This is our first map so we truly tried our best. Lastly, we did not know not going into creative was that big of a deal, we were wrong so we will not include that next time!
Next map we make WILL be challenging so we will try to warn players at the start. Thank you for the feedback. It just seems you were unlucky.

Quoting DE:
I was enjoying the exploration and easter eggs in this map, but I wish there was a way to make it easier. "If you're dying to mobs on easy, are you sure you're not just bad at PvE?" Maybe some of us are bad at PvE but should that make it so we can't enjoy the map? The first boss just got tedious because the health potions are not worth the time it takes to use them and I found myself just getting as many hits on the boss before it killed me and I respawned. I'm not sure about other players but i've never found dying, respawning, getting three or four hits on the boss, and then dying again an engaging form of combat.
And I agree with NotAFan even the mobs from the spawners were too difficult the whole thing just got annoying. I ended up switching to peaceful mode to clear out the spawners, perhaps if there were less spawners I would have been more motivated to actually fight to break them. And then the cave parkour! I'm fine with parkour but dying as soon as I touch the water? It was just so annoying the whole time, it felt like an insult, I want to be able to have fun in this map and I wasn't.
I was going to use creative so that I could make a sort of checkpoint system for myself but no the map makers would be "sad :( " if I used creative. Where is the fun in that? Why put in a system to force players into adventure mode? Wouldn't you rather we cheat a little and enjoy the story and map you put work into? Sure, maybe I am just bad at PvE, and Parkour, and maybe i'm just bad at adventure maps overall, but does that mean I shouldn't get to enjoy the map and have fun? I guess that's up to you.

Sorry for your trouble :(
It was our first map so we truly tried our best. For the next map we won't include an anti-cheat

+1 Vectorprime Not bad!

Pros- The Building was very well done, the boss fights were well executed, and the side quest mechanics were innovative.

Cons- It would generally be better to use mob spawning command rather than spawners- this way players will actually have to battle them rather than just breaking the spawners.
Most notably, the final boss fight was not hard at all, and just really long. You could stand back with a bow and never actually have a challenge. Also, the story line was a little confusing and felt incomplete (I think I missed several lore books, however).

Just played this map with my best friend. We thoroughly enjoyed it! We have some minor critiques, however:

1) The first boss, the assassin, felt a little too powerful for our gear level at the time. Every other boss felt mostly balanced, except that one.
2) The story is a great concept but could have been fleshed out much more. And the premise wasn't really explained very well in the map itself, so somebody who might be playing the map without having read this page's lore explanation would not have known what was going on at all. In short, there could have been better storytelling.

But! Here are some excellent points we loved about the map and gave us reason to rate it 4/5 stars:

1) Excellent background mechanics! For example, the effects and system of the side quests! And the use of the compass to keep us on track!
2) Visually Stunning! The environment around us really set the mood. There was no need for a fancy custom texture pack, and optifine was optional.
3) The final boss was extremely entertaining, and his effects left us terrified and intrigued at the same time.
4) We especially loved the idea of the relics! Those came in handy! And it created a venue for players to further customize their own fighting styles.
5) While the story in the game could have used more detail, it was extremely nice to play a relatively straightforward map. It was easy to tell what our next move had to be, and you still gave the players opportunities along the way to improve their gear without leaving the path and potentially getting lost.

All in all it was a great map and we could tell that a lot of love, sweat, and tears (and maybe some blood mixed into that redstone) went into it. My friend and I are impressed, and we look forward to seeing what else ForumJelly has to offer! We only wish we had recorded our playthrough xD

P.S. Good and Bad: SO MANY POTIONS XD

I must say, hands down the best map I've ever played from this site, and my 2nd favorite adventure map of all time, behind Herobrine's Return. The bosses are quite difficult, but easy at the same time (With the exception of the "Restricted Library Onslaught"), it's really hard to describe. The currency is well balanced and well thought out. And the story, although unfinished, left me satisfied, not really needing to feel a tied up loose end. The side quests provided a way for me to do things other than the main storyline, but not steering me away from it. I loved the numerous easter eggs (I think I found every single one, unless there was one in the Dark Swamp, I hate guardians and water fighting so I just skipped over the lily pads.) I encountered 0 issues that kept me playing the map with the exception of a few misspellings and a hole in the ground that lead to a command block just outside the starting house. I also thought the countless mob spawners were a little bit tedious, but they didn't take anything away from the actual map. Overall, the building was amazing, the boss fights were incredibly unique and well done, and I died a total of 27 times, with 24 of them being in the "Restricted Library Onslaught". I recommend you make that a little bit easier, because that was incredibly difficult and my armor was crippled by the end of it. I'd give this map an extremely solid 9.5/10. Extremely well done, do yourself a favor, play through this map, and search ever corner for Easter Eggs and secrets!

ye then mojang came along and said HA L0L adding 1.13 L cant upload this to realms now ;)

was doing well until I got to the part with the water and all of those guardians. spent about an hour and a half (no joke) trying to pass it, but unfortunately I could not and gave up on the entire map all together. idk if I'm missing something or if that part is just impossible. there are too many guardians to even get 3/4 into the entire mission because I just end up dying.

Hey sorry to hear about that, Try and Get away from the chunk of the guardians... also, Try avoiding the thing alltogether and just keep running. You may need the speed pendant from the beginning to help.

0 Delta The map itself is decently made but there are a few things I feel like I have to comment on:
1. The 3rd side-quest is bugged (The summon item command doesn't need backslashes before the quotations)
2. This greatly reminds me of Assassin of Steve but to a much poorer quality
3. The Dark Swamp Area is just dumb (You don't provide the appropriate gear for it or you don't know how to balance your mobs)
> It took me maybe 40 minutes just because I know how to spawn op gear
> Also, why is there a floating pipe in the swamp
4. The areas were most of the time too short and often too similar in my opinion
5. The end credits was very sloopy
6. Don't use spawners just use a bunch of summon commands
7. If you can, don't make it so that players have to scale up and down their render distance to load command blocks use spawn chunks
8. You forgot blaze rods, prismarine shards, and crystals for the item scavenger
9. Why do bosses take the same amount of damage from all sources?
10. Let players decide whether or not to cheat, if they cheat they ruin the fun for themselves they don't need a mom in a Minecraft adventure map
11. The final boss can actually kill itself in the 1st phase if done right
Sorry if all of this comes off as harsh.

Oh, that's quite unfortunate. But there aren't really that many guardians - certainly not enough to stop you from getting to the checkpoint, or from the checkpoint to the end.
Quoting NotAFan:
Mobs were EXTREMELY hard to kill even on easy, the mob arena in library portal was wayyy more challenging than it should have been. It was incompletable. I had been very tedious at getting the best gear and even with strength charm and the diamond sword from upgrades I still could not beat it. I hit the zombies around 1000 times on each one to no avail, only possible way to kill them was knocking them off and they are extremely fast and push you off before you can even start attacking them. Storyline: 9/10 Gameplay: 0/10

If you're dying to mobs on easy, are you sure you're not just bad at PvE?
I can understand dying a lot in the library's secret boss battle, and if we ever release 1.1 we'll nerf the pigmen, but outside of that, none of the non-boss mobs are really that hard to kill.

however with your "anti-creative" mechanic, I believe there should be an option to disable it at the end. Also I think there should be an allowed difficulty level, I do realize everything is possible on normal but on certain stages, such as (I can't say anything Spoilers *cough*) the mobs are dealing way too much knock back to be able to do anything against it.

Again, fantastic map, Love it to bits and I hope we can see more from you guys in the future
