/locate structure minecraft:village_plainsThe /locate command finds the nearest structure or biome from your current position. Java Edition includes 34 locatable structures and 65 biomes across the Overworld, Nether, and End. This generator builds the correct syntax for any target.
The command has two subcommands: /locate structure <id> and /locate biome <id>. When successful, it returns the coordinates of the nearest match. In chat, those coordinates are clickable, and clicking them auto-fills a /tp command so you can teleport there instantly.
This is one of the most useful commands for exploration. Instead of wandering for hours looking for a specific structure, you can pinpoint it in seconds. Need a teleport target? Locate gives you the exact coordinates.
One caveat: /locate only works with cheats enabled, so it is off limits in most survival worlds and on servers. In that case, grab the world seed and drop it into a seed map viewer instead. It shows the same structures and biomes at exact coordinates without turning on commands.
1. Choose the locate type. Select whether you want to find a structure or a biome.
2. Pick a target. Browse or search from 34 structures or 65 biomes. The generator lists every valid ID from the game data.
3. Copy the command. Paste into your Minecraft chat. The result will show the nearest coordinates.
4. Click to teleport. In the chat output, click the green coordinates to auto-fill a /tp command.
