}Minecraft Java Edition includes 9 built-in superflat presets, but the real power is in custom configurations. This flat world generator lets you design block layers visually, choose any biome, toggle structure generation, and export a ready-to-use JSON preset.
The Minecraft flat world generator above gives you full control over superflat world creation. The in-game customization UI is functional but limited. This tool lets you see your layer stack visually, try different block combinations, and export configurations without trial-and-error in the game client.
Superflat worlds are popular for redstone testing, PvP arenas, mob farm development, and creative building where terrain would get in the way.
1. Start from a preset or build from scratch. The 9 built-in presets (Classic Flat, Overworld, Desert, Water World, and more) provide good starting points.
2. Add and reorder layers by choosing blocks and setting their height. The bottom layer is typically
bedrock (height 1), with terrain blocks stacked above.
3. Choose a biome to control the visual environment, weather, and which structures can generate.
4. Toggle features and structures to control whether ores, lakes, and structures like villages and strongholds appear.
5. Export as JSON and paste the configuration into the Minecraft world creation screen under Superflat, Customize, Import Preset.
Here is the full list of vanilla superflat presets with their layer configurations:

| Water World | Deep Ocean | Bedrock, 64 Deepslate, 5 Stone, 5 Dirt, 5 Gravel, 90 Water | Ocean Ruins, Shipwrecks, Monuments |
| Overworld | Plains | Bedrock, 59 Stone, 3 Dirt, 1 Grass Block | Villages, Mineshafts, Outposts, Portals, Strongholds |
| Snowy Kingdom | Snowy Plains | Bedrock, 59 Stone, 3 Dirt, 1 Grass Block, 1 Snow | Villages, Igloos |
| Bottomless Pit | Plains | 2 Cobblestone, 3 Dirt, 1 Grass Block (no bedrock) | Villages |

Mob farms: Superflat worlds with minimal layers are ideal for testing mob farm designs. Use a single bedrock layer at the bottom, a few layers of
stone, and choose a biome that spawns your target mob.
Redstone prototyping: The
Redstone Ready preset gives you 116 layers of
sandstone in a Desert biome: no rain to reset your circuits, plenty of depth for buried wiring, and a clean flat surface. It is the standard choice for redstone engineers.
Void worlds for map-making: The Void preset creates an empty world with just a starting platform. Map makers use this as a blank canvas for adventure maps, minigames, and custom terrain.
Village testing: The
Classic Flat and Overworld presets include village generation. Since the terrain is flat, villages generate cleanly without floating houses or buried doors, useful for studying village mechanics or iron golem spawning.
Go to Create New World, World Type, Superflat, Customize. Add or remove block layers, set the biome, and toggle structures. You can also use this generator to design your configuration visually and paste the exported JSON into the preset field.
Minecraft Java Edition includes 9 built-in presets: Classic Flat, Tunneler's Dream, Water World, Overworld, Snowy Kingdom, Bottomless Pit, Desert, Redstone Ready, and The Void.
Yes, if the preset includes structure overrides. Each preset can specify which structure sets to generate. For example, the Desert preset includes villages, desert pyramids, mineshafts, and strongholds. Presets like The Void and Redstone Ready have no structures enabled.
Redstone Ready is purpose-built for redstone work. It uses a Desert biome (no rain), 116 layers of sandstone for depth, no structures, and no features, just a clean and tall building surface.
