Minecraft version: Java Edition 26.2
Trials of the Past is a cooperative Minecraft adventure map designed for two to four players. It cannot be completed alone.
Follow the story, work together, overcome dangerous challenges and solve a wide variety of puzzles.
Using a shader pack is recommended for this adventure. The map was tested with BSL Shaders.
Shader packs can make held torches illuminate nearby areas and improve visibility through water in darker locations. Instructions for installing the recommended shader pack are included with the download.
The world file, installation information and additional guides are available as a ZIP file through Proton Drive:
The world folder is named Trials of the Past.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file and place the world folder in the standard Minecraft saves directory:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves
Your saves directory may be located elsewhere if you have changed the default Minecraft installation location.
Open Minecraft and select Singleplayer. Trials of the Past should appear in your list of available worlds.
To play with other people on the same network, open the world and select Open to LAN.
When hosting the map on a dedicated server, you may need to rename the Trials of the Past folder to world.
The difficulty changes throughout the adventure.
The map was developed over more than 12 years, with occasional breaks, and contains a large number of hidden redstone systems and command block triggers.
Test players described the map as a giant collection of interconnected escape rooms. A three-player test playthrough took approximately 12 sessions of around two hours each.
Your completion time may be shorter or longer depending on your Minecraft experience and how quickly your group discovers and interprets the clues.
Enjoy the adventure!
