Settlers of Catan is a classic 4-player board game where players collect resources to build roads, settlements and cities in order to reach 10 victory points. Players roll dice for resources, trade with opponents and use strategy to expand their kingdom across a modular island board.
Players start in the lobby, a quaint living room with 4 seats surrounding a table holding a Catan board. Once ready, press the button and be transported into the board, built at scale in Minecraft. Play on the beginner board or a randomized board so no game is the same. Use strategy to ensure you come out on top!
This recreation is made solely using command blocks (no datapacks) in vanilla Minecraft, and has all the rules of classic 4-player Catan built in, including domestic and maritime trades, robber logic and resource allocation. Note that players will receive resources in their inventories and dropping them will make them disappear, but this does not affect the gameplay as all resources are being kept track of behind the scenes, along with victory points and card counts as per the rules of Catan.
Technically supports 1 - 4 players (although 1 player is lonely)
Recommend 3 - 4 players for the most fun (4 is the best)
Allows 3 spectators for a maximum of 7 online players
Each game of Catan should last around 40 minutes
The full rules of the game are outlined here: https://www.catan.com/sites/default/files/2021-06/catan_base_rules_2020_200707.pdf
I suggest skimming through the rules as the game is quite complicated (if you are new to Catan), and playing on the beginner board as you learn to outsmart your friends!
