Map Info:
You stumble upon the ruins of an ancient temple. A message is inscribed on a slab outside of what appears to be the entrance. The message warns you to turn back, and never set foot inside the temple. But something beckons you inside... something dark. What lies inside the ruins of this ancient temple? Download and Play "Temple of Nox" to find out.

*This map was designed to be a singleplayer map, and certain mechanics might not work properly if the map is played with multiple people. That being said, it might be interesting to try it. ;) If the map is played in multiplayer, do not use the checkpoints because they will break the map; teleport to each other instead.*

Featuring:

  • Storyline by command blocks and 'Lost Journals'.
  • Custom Monsters and Spawners.
  • 4 unique levels.
  • 2 unique items.
  • Tools and weapons with custom name and lore.
  • Custom Bosses and Minibosses.
  • Jumping!
  • Custom puzzles.
  • Hack'n'Slash gameplay.
  • Epic Final Boss fight.
  • References!
  • 2 to 4 hours of gameplay.
  • Break taking!

Rules:

  • Rules are automatically set, but don't set the difficulty to peaceful or play in a minecraft version lower than 1.8.
  • Also, turn on chat as most of the story is done through chat.
  • If you enjoyed the map, tell your friends! If you make a video, leave a link to this page and leave a link to the video in the comments!

Bugs:

  • Most rooms reset after you die and reenter the level. If you get stuck or something isn't working, try re entering the level.
  • This map has been play tested numerous times, but that doesn't mean it is perfect. There might still be a bug here and there, so if you find one let me know!

Enjoy!

The trigger pressure plate in the tutorial doesn't work, I have tried countless times and it just doesn't want to work.

Yup same here. I've tried everything I can think of and throwing the pressure plate on the ground in between the sand does nothing.

I'm really sorry about that, I took it down because it didn't work. I'm taking lots of time to test the map, to fix bugs, and then to repeat the process. It will be reposted eventually but for now, there's some work that needs to be done. If you have any suggestions about what could have been better (other than fixing bugs) or what would be something cool to add, let me know. I'll do my best to add it in.

Your maps are amazing, I really enjoy playing them.
There is one thing in the sequel I wish you would change. At the end where you go into hell, the spawn point is set on a bridge. Please would you set it to the other end of the bridge. Every time I die I have to go slo mo over the bridge with all of the enderman's messages coming up! I die a lot so it does get a bit monotonous. :)

I think I know what the first guy was talking about, in some later versions of 1.8, whenever even I throw a trigger, it just won't set down or do anything. It clears up over time, but it does take a REALLY long time... Idk why this happens. :/

It must be your computer because I play in 1.8.7 and it works normally

Throw the trigger in between the two sand blocks.

I've noticed there have been a lot of comments about the triggers, so to clear up any confusion: You use the triggers by Throwing them (default is 'Q' key) in Between the two blocks that are slightly different than the other blocks on the floor. I'm sorry for any confusion, and I hope this helped you all out. Enjoy! :)

Ok...I just don't like trekking in dungeons for countless hours and the "Stop cheating" message should GO away. I'm not cheating. I'm trying to fix the map.

And I hope that its actual outdoor areas, I don't like being underground for countless hours...

I hate to say this, but if you don't like dungeon trekking or being underground while you're in the dungeons, then this is really not the game for you. Another thing you've criticized is the "stop cheating" message. That is there for a reason: you're not supposed to be in creative mode, even if you're "trying to fix the map". I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that either; are you trying to fix actual bugs or are you just not sure what to do next? If you have found actual bugs, please report them so that I may fix them and you can save yourself the trouble. If anyone else has found any bugs, please report them or they will never get fixed. Enjoy! :)

Let's not start any arguments in the comments section. I'm sorry if you didn't enjoy this map, EliVasq. If it's any consolation and if you're willing to give me a second chance, the second map is much more story driven and has more variety with new puzzles, new gameplay mechanics, and bigger explorable areas. I'm also expanding the size of the playable areas to be more "free roam-y" as the series progresses. In the meantime please stop leaving destructive comments (as oppose to ones with constructive criticism) just because you're unhappy with the map. I hope everyone else enjoys! The sequel is coming out real soon! :)

+2 Daxter_Flamehand This seems like a very "love it or hate it" type of map. Though personally I'm on middle ground.

While the concept of the Triggers and Steel Weights were good, mobs were manageable but not too easy, and it had aspects of a good dungeon-crawlin g adventure, there are some categories it lacks in.

The bosses, for example, left something to be desired, to say the least. Most of them were extremely easy and I wouldn't call them "unique." The levels were pretty similar to one another, and while the weight concept was good, it just got really annoying after a while.

Overall, 7/10. But that's just my opinion.

Zelda-ish feel? I never thought Zelda was about trekking in dungeons for countless hours that you waste...
Well, what I mean by that is like, once you enter the dungeon, there is no outdoors to explore, Even though Zelda is about going through dungeons and stuff, at least you aren't RESTRICTED for going out...

+2 Ultrarainbow the map is great its just what any rogue dungeon player would like although I have to admit level 3 and beyond were just to hard for me so I just went and gave up but still was very fun and made good use of 1.8 features 89/100

-6 EliVasq Why does everyone like this map? To me, its just boring and repetitive. Dungeon after Dungeon, its soooooooo boring. And when something doesn't work, I go into Creative to see the problem, but it sometimes say "Stop cheating!" and it gets irritating when I'm trying to fix the problem. So this map earns a 3/10 for repetitive gameplay and the annoying "Stop cheating!" message when I'm trying to fix something.

+5 Lord_Bighead Hey everyone! I wanted to let you all know that the sequel to the Temple of Nox is almost done and ready to be released! I am super excited to let you all play it and I really think you all will enjoy it. The sequel makes some much needed improvements on this map: for instance, it is much more story driven, and the story is much more interesting; the items are much more creative and unique (think Lightning Spell but better); and the bosses are so much more engaging, challenging, and reminiscent of Legend of Zelda bosses (you'll need to use the item you found in the level to defeat the boss). I hope you all love the sequel when it comes out, but until then I hope you enjoy playing this map! Enjoy! :)

You'll be happy to hear that the map is almost finished! The map is now being bug tested (right now there are a LOT of bugs) and will be released fairly soon. Though the map is playable, I'm waiting to release it because there are so many new maps being added right now, I don't want this one to be crowded out.
