‘Where there is light, there is a shadow’
Oscilight: The Light Shadow is the 3rd installment in my Puzzle map series, but is completely standalone and anyone can play it for the first time. The map is based around lights (stained glass blocks) that help you traverse and complete the many unique levels. Each Chapter will introduce you to a new light or mechanic and gradually makes the puzzles harder and harder.
This map features over 50 unique puzzling levels, a philosophical storyline explored throughout your completion of the 6/7 chapters and a whole bunch of custom mechanics unique to this map. It is Singleplayer only though, but the map normally lasts at least 3 hours, based on those who have played it already.
It works in the 1.9 release version and has been updated to fix bugs people have found. The uploaded version should work as well as intended!
For more screenshots of the map, view here.
A Trailer that was made a while back, so many features weren't complete at the time (They are now).
Thread (HIGHLY RECOMMEND - It includes all information, including if you get stuck).
I spent over 6 months on this map alone and hope you enjoy it! Yes, there will be some brain-scratching and some annoying re-dos, but all levels are 100% possible and have been completed by others. Good luck!

QuoteThat's an old version of the map he's playing. Everything you see from Oakley's LP is from an old update. Most of the bugs he encountered are fixed since he was the very first person to LP the map.

QuoteHi there! Yeah falling of Blue light and not taking damage was quite an issue since Minecraft isn't fast enough to remove the jump boost effect. In most levels, falling off will put you in a position where you need to reset anyway, so it's not that much of a problem practically.
The reason for you not getting teleported could be for a number of reasons. If you didn't see the end text for that chapter, it didn't count as finished, and the reason for you not seeing it is because you kept running when entering the teleport. I've also had one person log in on a different account than what they began the map with, so that would also cause this. Finally, simple, innocent lag. If your game is set to the highest settings, the game might not be able to process it all at once, and the lag would cause the end entry detection to fail.
And I don't mind you not finishing the map. If it was for the bugs mentioned, I am deeply sorry. If it's just because you didn't want to, or you disliked the map, I'd like to know why :P

In the finish part of chapter one it didn't teleport me to hub!(after playing creative I found out that this bug happens in some levels too)
(I didn't finish this map)

QuoteThanks! Well the original map featured just the Green and Red lights, and was released over a year ago now. The only source I can think of is studying Physics, and waves. Otherwise, it was just an idea :) I've surprisingly had a few people say it could be its own game, which was partly the intention but inside Minecraft. I don't have any knowledge of game development, but if I ever become a part of such a company, it would be on the top of my list!

QuoteThank you! While I don't think it fully makes use of the new 1.9 features - or, at least, isn't dependent on them - I understand how it could be viewed to be :P I am priveleged to make it onto your top maps list!

QuoteThank you! Yes the level numbering system was done in hundreds rather than tens, just in case there was more than 9 levels per chapter. Although I also think having 'Level 2 of Chapter 5' is displayed better as '#502' then '#52'. It also means that there is a skip in actual levels, which might confuse player.
Glad you enjoyed my map and I'm not focused on any map at the moment, taking a break after the 6 months of this project :D
