Sands of Doom

Map Info:
Follow in the footsteps of the legendary adventurer Indiana Cube, and raid the ancient diamond treasure of a long forgotten race. Will your knowledge and skill prevail, or will you fall victim to the sinister hazards that lie in wait for you. This map is small, but it packs a big punch, utilizing a series of creative and unique booby traps and clues to make things interesting (and deadly). Use the clues and what you learn early on to avoid the final trap.

HINT: The items in the chests will give you clues as to what to do next.

NOTE: If you set off a trap that destroys the treasure, you can replace the level files to reset everything.

RULES:
There is only one rule: Beware the Sands of Doom.

SUGGESTIONS: It is recommended that you don't use cheats or mods as they may make the map easier, and where's the fun in that? Baring cheats and mods, everything goes, so give it your best shot and think outside the box wherever you like. This map is designed with crafting, block placing, and mining/digging in mind.

I couldn't find the Pyramid, I journeyed left for ages (I even flew at one point) I just found miles of forest.

You have to follow the signs and instructions. you go out the auto-gen temple and head left, curving on a wide arc, and following the signs (they are pretty spaced out if you are on low render distances).

+3 Jakeshi Brilliant idea for a map! Didn't figure it all out first time but second time around I nailed it! I have done a video on the map if you don't mind, it has links to your map's download and displays your author name. Gonna play 2 soon so keep up the good work and I hope to see a third soon!

I spawn in the Temple but I can't find the Final Treasure Dungeon. Where is the Final Treasure Dungeon?!?!

You have to exit out the front door of the temple and walk a ways in the 8 o'clock direction (12 o'clock is straight ahead toward the village, 9 o'clock is straight to the left). There are a few signs that mark the path. If you have trouble seeing them (there are 3). You will find a pyramid.

Very interesting concept, I loved the sandtraps, and the defuse information that were given in the beginning.
On the downside though, the map is _very_ short, its more like a version 0.1 rather than a 1.0.
Concept: 8/10
Thoroughness: 4/10
Overall: 5/10

Glad you enjoyed it :)
Sounds like you are looking for a longer map that expands on the concept of this one, with way more traps and fancier scenery...
...Well then you'd better check out Sands of Doom 2!

-4 pacificmaelstrom Make sure that:
--You are using minecraft 1.3.2 (or at least have the adventure update)
-- Be sure you dont have any mods active that mess with terrian generation.
-- Make sure you are opening the right map file. (This one will show up as "temple" in white letters with "sands of doom" in grey underneath.
--when you are sure you have the right map, use creative mode to fly and search for the desert in all directions.
--You may also want to try downloading another map to see if you have problems with all maps ore just this one.

The map itself has been well tested by many different people, so i think the problem is on your end. Hope you can figure it out.

I believe you're supposed to spawn inside the dungeon whenever you start the map up.. but i keep spawning in some forest and have no clue where to go to find the start of the adventure. I redownloaded this map many times and still have trouble. Any help?

I am not sure why that would happen. You should spawn in side of a game-generated desert temple that is your base-camp. There is a forest to the east of the desert, so try heading west until you find the desert. Then look along the edge of the desert until you find the temple (it has a front door and a sign in front). If you see a pyramid, the temple is closer to the forest and west a ways. Additionally:
-Make sure you are opening the right map. The name will show up as "Temple"
-Try a clean non-snapshot version of vanilla Minecraft.

Thanks a lot, I'll try this out again as soon as I have some free time later!

the map is so short, i mean the pyramid in the nether just blew up, what am i supposed to do now?

Well it can be completed in 15 min, as the introduction says, but you may have been going a bit to fast. :P As a result, you set off the final trap and destroyed the treasure. You are going to have to reset the map files and try again. Next time be [much] more careful around sand. There is a reason this , map is called the "SANDS of Doom" .

I have no idea if I finished this map or not! I found the treasure (I'm assuming!?) and I couldn't find anything else, but there wasn't like a very solid "hey this is over" type thing (well, tons of diamonds, tnt, and diamond armor could be a solid ending... or it could be something else?)

Pretty cool map though, quite frustrating!

Yes you found the treasure. Good job! Glad to hear you enjoyed the map.
