I spawned out of the map... The map is extremely laggy. (Had everything turned low or off). The traps were boring... should have added different types of traps. WAY TOO MANY MOBS in one spot. Never ending maze? No. Where's the end... I searched for 5 hours and couldn't find the end... Not a great storyline... Needs some major modifications.
well that sucks for you because this is awesome!!

-1 Sordrin Hi J-Lo,
A few tips for finding the secrets.
1: When you first open an empty map, or only expand it once, you will be able to see red marks in some places. Those reveal hidden rooms. They are not easy to spot, but not that difficult either. Once you expand a map more than 2 times, you will no longer be able to spot the hidden rooms on the map.
2: Make sure you search all hidden rooms, dungeons and landmarks thoroughly, as there are secrets in them many of them.
3: Make sure you search the the second village thoroughly. Every crevice of every room in every house. And if you haven't already, climb the tree in the second village. :)

-1 J-Lo Been through this maze extensively, and just plain stuck. There are 2/5 items I need of a certain type (that should be enough without spoiling) and I just cannot find them! Can anyone help?

+2 Sordrin Hi Justin,

Sorry you had a bad experience. The map actually shows the end from the start. You would need to expand it to see more. Not sure what the lag is coming from, as I experience no lag at all at full settings, and I don't have a super powerful PC. Perhaps you need a better machine? There are several types of traps in this map, most of them are quite deadly, so not sure what your complaint is there. There are meant to be a lot of mobs spawning at night by design. The maze does have an ending, and if you expand your map (like the tips book tells you to do) you would have very little problem navigating it, or finding the end. Not sure if you read the final book of the story, there is quite a twist at the end, though according to you, you didn't get to the end. Sounds to me like you just need to learn how to play MC. ;)

0 Sordrin Thanks LatinoMan003 for the suggestions! I have implemented a few, but there are speed potions to use for fast running. :)

File has been updated:

I have added a "Known Bugs" book due to a minecraft bug preventing maps from expanding when shift clicking to remove the modified map from the workbench. Players will need to manually drag the modified map out of the workbench in order to properly expand the map.

I have also modified a few rooms, some of the loot, and added some wolves to discover.
Added some special redstone dust that players can place on the floor to mark where they have been. This item will have to be discovered, and is only available in a limited amount. It cannot be removed once placed.

Added real beds in villages.

+2 LatinoMan003 Here are a few ideas for the next map update

1. Secret chest that Has Wolf spawn eggs
2. Maybe a horse or boots to make you run faster
3. PLEASE a trail of redstone to show where you have been.
4. Power ups like Level 2 potions Please

+2 Sordrin Alright, I have updated the map (same download link, different file) to include a much better ending, several more things to discover, better tips book, and a modified boss battle to fit the new end story. :D

It should be a much more entertaining journey, with a lot more to see, and a lot easier for non-experienced players now.

Enjoy!

nerd2200: It depends on how well received this one is. :)

As stated in the books, this is only a small part of a larger, broader and expanding experience. Accessing the loot IS the end of this adventure, but I didn't want to leave you locked in the tomb.

Hm. Understandable, but even so, I think a more conclusive ending would vastly improve things, just so the player gets a bit of closure.

Well, first and foremost, I'd add more decoration. The maze is pretty much the same design over and over, but a couple changes and builds here or there would easily fix that. Secondly, more mini-dungeons, like the towers and giant rifts to parkour over. At certain points, you could have monsters jump out and ambush the player, the Nightmare Lord taunt you, stuff like that. I can't think of much else that still keeps the style of a maze. Just little distractions off to the side so the player stays interested.

I appreciate your open-mindedness and willingness to improve, that's something not enough mapmakers have these days.

+6 Sordrin Thanks for your feedback 4nonym0us!

The nature of a maze involves running around. The maze isn't difficult, but the scale of it makes it longer. Sadly, I don't see a way to make the journey more entertaining. It IS a maze. ;) The idea is to travel a distance before you reach a destination. There are traps or obstacles in the way, but too many and it becomes too frustrating to travel. I wanted a maze though, not a dungeon.

As stated in the books, this is only a small part of a larger, broader and expanding experience. Accessing the loot IS the end of this adventure, but I didn't want to leave you locked in the tomb. (maybe I should have left you in there, and included that as part of the story) ;)

The mystery is solving the riddle. If you read the objectives, the mystery would be spoiled for you, which you were warned of in the book.

If you have ideas on how I might keep players more entertained along the path, I am all ears!

+6 4nonym0us I don't know if it was just me, and my very specific choice in maps, but I could find little enjoyment in this at all. It's really just running around a very pretty but repetitive map, interrupted by the occasional mob spawn or mini-dungeon. The books were written very well, but the story itself was pretty uninteresting, I think it could have used a twist or development or something. And, once it's all said and done, there isn't really an ending as far as I can tell - you kill the Nightmare Lord, step on a pressure plate, and get sent back to a checkpoint? Huh?

If I were the player, I'd just give yourself a speed boost (Minimum of 20)and run to the interesting parts, since the mini dungeons ARE very fun. But other than that, there isn't much here except for a loooooot of walking.

Also, there isn't really a mystery, you know exactly what's going on from the very start. Just saying.

+3 Sordrin monobovo01: Thanks! It's not really that hard. :) It does take a little bit of patience and some trial and error though. ;) It is definitely not a 10 min type of map though.

Daniel:
It is in part in case I need to make edits to the map/info. If people share directly to the download file, they may end up with an outdated (or broken) version. I tested it pretty thoroughly, so hopefully that won't be an issue, but you never know. The adf.ly link does help support my evil empire though. ;)

-3 Daniel The you must only directly link to this page, not the download, rule, is that because you want be directly supported, or in other words, want people to use the adf.ly link?
