Map Info

Yok - Voice of the Gods is an experiment in map design, storytelling, and building an immersive world.

After the events of the first map, you wake up in a place made of sewn-together worlds full of mystery and danger.

The key to freedom is the 7 temples located in the world.

When the sun is out, the world is yours to explore, but when nighttime comes, something will awake. Beings that are just barely human. To survive them, your only choices are to run, hide, or die.

+2 ZloyXP The intro to the map was pretty cool but out of it I somewhat expected a more story-driven experience.
Frankly, having beaten two temples out of four I suddenly found myself bored out of my mind and just droped the map.
The premise seemed fun, and I really wish the whole map was more like the intro sequence - unclear, vague and mysterious.
I may be just not getting it though

If I'm going to be honest, these two maps you've made don't seem very immersive, but that's only because the stories in each of them are only told within an intro and 4 books each. For the first map, it seems you're trying to find a way to bring back your dead mother, and then you find the gemstones. The temples' books seem to imply that this raising back from the dead leads to consequences of eternal youth or something? It's not very clear to be honest. None of the villages really have a background either so the map feels like you're just going from location to location. This map had a great intro and very interesting puzzles, but it seemed to be missing a lot of pieces in terms of story. Since the only story you get is from disjointed books that have test subjects with various problems, the story is very haphazard. I know this sounds kind of harsh, but you really did seem to do well with the intro, puzzles, and map design was fairly good. But it all felt very disconnected on both maps with the second map literally having 4 separate biomes and monsters trying to kill you at night without much explanation why it's like this. I think you just need to less obscure when telling your story. Even games where you find the story over time through books have some way to connect them all together, usually by journal dates or some main plot to connect all the books to.

I am going to fix this in future maps. Thanks for the feedback!

+1 Player Suggestion before I've started playing: you should probably remove the "YOU ARE IN THE WRONG VERSION!" for 1.12.1, since pretty much nothing's change since 1.12 and it doesn't affect the map.
