Map Info:
Myrneth is a quite traditional medieval fantasy setting, and I hope to build upon this map, making it the first one in a series of related Maps.

To build on this project, and mainly for the writing, I had help by d1scarnate. Thanks to you and the beta testers.

What type of map is Myrneth?
Myrneth is an Adventure map with puzzle elements, exploration, combat and some jumping as primary elements. Myrneth is designed as a semi-open-world kind of map; it's not very large and it has a linear storyline, but the player is, unlike Off Guard, not forced through a series of enclosed spaces, the area of the map includes a few farms, a small town and a large castle.

Being able to understand written English is required to play the map.

What is the estimated playing time for Myrneth?
Depends very much on playstyle. A speedrun can take less than 30 minutes, a very quick normal playthrough may take 1 or 2 hours, a slow playthrough perhaps 3 hours or more. A very slow player or someone who'd like to roleplay his own character and do things that are not required, or an explorer who wants 100% completion might take up to 10 hours, about 5 hours was the longest time in beta tests, average was around 2-3.

What are the typical gameplay elements?
There are basically three acts to the game. The first act begins with a tutorial and an introduction to the story and ends with your character leaving his home and exploring the surroundings, reaching the town of Hirthwood. This is mainly about exposition and getting to know the features.

The second acts begins in the town of Hirthwood and is centered on puzzles, usually about finding keys for doors and reading notes to understand what is going on.

The third act takes place in a castle and contains more combat focussed gameplay, jumping puzzles and the conclusion of the story arc.

The puzzles are generally managable, but might require some creative thinking. Every unique gameplay concept is explained in great depth in the Tutorial section and it is highly suggested to read the tutorial books carefully and try out everything to be sure that things work.

How many players does the map support?
A mere single player. It is impossible to play the map with more than one player, so please do not try.

Make sure that command blocks can work if you are for some reason hosting a server for yourself. Villagers must also be enabled. All details are explained (and the basic functionality tested) in the tutorial.

Important:
Don't forget to sleep in beds to save!
Do not use any commands!
Play the tutorial slowly to learn about all the rules for this map!

Quick Info:
Players: 1
Length: ~3 hours
Puzzle difficulty: Easy to Medium (think outside the box and keep your eyes open!)
Jumping difficulty: Easy but punishing if you fail. Use savepoints.
Combat: Depends on your difficulty settings. Easy on Easy, hard on Hard.
Storyline: Prepare for some reading, although the books are spaced enough to suit most players.

+3 Madcat Wonderful game, I just finished it. The story was awesome and the ending (good ending) just completed it.

Thank you for this memorial map

+2 Cheesy I broke all the redstone on the roof of the final tower, and nothing happened. How do I make the good end happen? How do I make that boss spawn?

+2 Pie Face What you should add:
a button you can push that makes it creative so you can fly around WITHOUT "cheating" (The map is already over) and explore.

+1 Pie Face This is by far the best map i have ever played. I loved the different endings, the "bad" one taking you to the Ender Dragon, the "good" one spawning the easier boss and opening the temple. The plot was somewhat confusing, but engaging and clever nonetheless. The only critasism I would have is that in the beginning, he said that emralds were currency, then never gave me a chance to buy anything. Why put so many into the map (i had over 3 stacks) and then have nothing to do with them? Also, at the end it says "Have you found the blacksmith's sword?" I had, plus a diamond sword I had found earlier. I wish that the "Blacksmith's Masterpiece" was the best sword in the game, the better one was annoying. Other than that, this map was awesome. I will be eagerly waiting for another map by Spec! Great job!

i decided into creative and break a block to enter that last chest that was blocked up and it had a key to a temple ive beaten the map but idk how i was suppose to get that or where was this temple i was suppose to open with it also i recall there being a locked door in the church that i never got the key for anywhere i could find that?

The church is the temple. You found that key you were looking for.

The official way to get it is to choose the good ending by breaking the bright part of the magical circle. It makes the weaker of the two boss enemies spawn, and after killing that one, you can grab the key from the chest. It opens the final dungeon beneath the church/temple. ("Temple, Passage")

I KNOW this is probably going to sound lame, but I'm not a noob. Okay, here it goes; How do i get past level 1. I have passed the small targets on the ground and I don't know what to do. I've scaled the trees, searched the house, went to the basement, ugh. I feel so lame.

Basement has the key for the boat shed. Boat shed has the boat to travel to Hirthwood. Your next stop in Hirthwood is "your room" at the tavern. :)

For people not good at parkour it got very frustrating, especially trying to get to the high tower. Gave up trying heaps of times. I'd finish the game if there was an alternate route for those who can't parkour.

There is no parkour route up the tower, that's why it is so difficult probably. Either you are at the part where you want to jump down into the waterfall/water from the battlement (early), or you are again at the tower and want to climb through the belly of the beast (vines inside its body, the entrance is a bit hidden but can be seen. Inside the tower) and then later only jump onto the head of it (that requires some climbing, but it's really easy) to find the chest with the key to the upper battlements. :)

Great story and everything, but I was disappointed with the "good" end, and in the end I wish that there was something to do with the almost three stacks of emeralds other than trading with the villagers. over all great map, I would definitely recommend it to others.

The good ending is canon. A 'trilogy' of Myrneth maps is planned and part 2 currently WIP. It starts a short while after this one ended, and you'll be playing either the same character or a close relative of him/her. It is assumed that the character did save Hirthwood and returned to work on a farmer until the second call to adventure :)

That was possibly the EASYEST MAP EVER Finished it in 5 minutes max.

Then you probably skipped most of it, friend. Or stopped too early. Did you get to Hirthwood? Into the castle? Broke into all those houses? Found all these keys?

Or did you just play the tutorial and stopped afterwards? :p

Well, that's it. At least in that ending; you decided to summon it, and now there's no happy end :P

It's behind the temple. It's not hard to see if you know where to look for it.

Big black blocky thing in a graveyard, center of town.

You'll only need to break redstone. You can break plants and stuff as well, but you don't have to. Obviously you can remove torches and such things.
